Off Grid Power Equipment
Off grid power conditioning equipment includes inverters, converters, and charge controllers. Below is a quick description of each item.
- Inverters: Solar panels output Direct Current (DC) power similar to most batteries. Inverters change this power in to Alternating Current (AC) which is the common electricity type in homes and businesses. Inverters are typically found after solar panels and batteries.
- AC to DC Converters: Convert AC electricity in to DC. These are usually built in to larger units and are fed in to charge controllers.
- Charge Controllers: manipulate DC voltage levels for specific applications. Charge Controllers are typically utilized between solar panels and batteries. This allows solar arrays with high voltages (100 to 600V) to be fed in to battery banks (12V, 24V, and 48V).
